Well Into Training

Hello Everyone!
Well I am really into my training regime now and feeling fit and ready for the new season to begin in a few weeks time. We train at Carrington training ground near to Manchester and it has been mainly warm and sunny apart from the odd day here and there. It rains a lot in Manchester.

We are now using GPS ( Global Positioning Satellite tracking device) to help track our position on the field and the impact that we take. Mike Bewer,  the new Head Coach at Sale, has brought it in and it is really interesting. It can track our heart rates so the coaching staff are able to see if we are working at capacity and it can also help reduce injury, which tends to cost clubs so much in points and money. You can read more about it here. (GPS) Bingham Cup Ben Cohen

Had some fun a couple of weeks ago when the boys promoting the Bingham Gay Rugby Cup came and filmed an interview with me about the bid to hold the cup in Manchester in 2012. I hope they can win it because it will be fantastic for Manchester and rugby in general. It will also be good to meet people from all over the world who have been in touch but live too far away to come to catch up at matches.

We were going on tour this coming weekend to Portugal where we were due to play a friendly against Falcons, but because of some kind of 'logistical' mix up, we are not going after all. We will still be travelling down to France next week to play Clermont Auvergne in the first warm up match of the season and will also be enjoying some team building activities in The Alps! Sounds like a laugh!

Ben Cohen on FacebookI am really enjoying keeping in touch with everyone on Facebook and Twitter. I quite often get things messed up with my spelling and forget to click the right links etc. but I have noticed that in no time someone has corrected me (ususally Jill) so thanks for your patience on that one.

Great to see the Gold Membership growing all the time. I have a couple of player tickets ready for a competition very soon which means you can see a match and then come in to catch up with me for a quick chat after the match. I am working on getting on my IPhone and  chatting on the members closed group on Facebook and I'm nearly there. My French friend Laurent is going to 'sort my phone out' when he comes over next season to see a match so I will get better - I promise!

I have seen a few messages doubting whether it is me or not Facebook. It really is. Surely you can tell! The only other person that gets involved in my online presence is my PR Manager Jill and this is how it is -   I am pretty good at rugby and Jill is good at spelling - Jill is pretty crap at rugby and .......... enough said. I really enjoy keeping in touch. Some days I have more time than others as rugby and twins take up most of my time.

We decided that there was not a lot of point in running my personal facebook page as I kept the fanpage up to date and was just having to duplicate stuff, so we have decided not to have a 'friends' page. So we now have the fanpage and the Gold Membership group page. I do chat away on Twitter if you want to follow @RugbyBenCohen. See you there!

Up and coming news! Ben Cohen 2011 is about to be created. The Calendar that is. We are doing the photo shoot over 2 Wednesday's in mid August and the Calendar should be available from the end of September. This year we are working with Geoff in the USA so that distribution can come directly from the States to save shipping charges. A great big thanks to Geoff who has volunteered for this task! Well done! Friend for life!

We have all sorts of suggestions for things to put in the shop and our latest additions are Mouse Mats. I don't have a lot to do with this as I can't understand why anyone would want an image of me on their desk, but I trust that Jill and all of you know what you want, so we ('we' I mean Jill) has organised it and they are on sale in the shop at £8.

All in all, things are going well. My little girls (who will be 3 this September) are still running their Mum and I around, but that goes with the territory and I don't expect that to end for another 16 years or so!

Thanks to everyone for your support. It means a lot to me.

Bye for now

Ben
